#41. A True Daredevil's End

Circus legend and famed high-wire walker Karl Wallenda was a true daredevil and often worked without a safety net. In 1978, at age 73, he embarked on a walk 121 feet above the ground, between two hotel towers in Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, he did not complete this walk and fell to his death. The accident was captured on film… this photo is from the beginning of Wallenda’s ill-fated walk.

#42. A Pregnant Woman's Horror

Sharon Tate was a famous actress and model in the 1960s. She and her director husband, Roman Polanski, were two weeks from the due date of their first child when she was brutally slain by members of the infamous “Manson Family” cult, under the direction of Charles Manson. Four other people were killed in the attack. This photo was taken shortly before that fateful and tragic night.

#43. Heartbreaking Last Moments

In 2013, a fire broke out at the top of a 67-meter high wind turbine in Holland. Unfortunately, two engineers, just 19 and 21 years old, were trapped at the top. This heartbreaking photo shows them embracing as they await their tragic deaths. Two of their coworkers managed to survive the disaster.

In 2013, 22-year-old Gabriela Hernández Guerra was devastated about the breakup of an online relationship. In her grief, she posted this disturbing photo of herself with the words “Goodbye to all, I don’t have anything now, I don’t have anything. Julio, I love you, never forget it. I’m leaving with a smile because you made me very happy while this lasted. To my family, I ask for your forgiveness. Love, Gabi.” She then committed suicide.

#45. A Royal Tragedy

On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana was killed in a car crash as her driver tried to escape relentless paparazzi. The accident also fatally injured her boyfriend Dodi Fayed as well as the driver, Henri Paul. The world was stunned by the tragic news. This is the last photo of Diana before the wreck, as she looks behind her facing away from the camera.
